An Overview of the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence?

The new Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence is the latest product that was launched by the Klairs brand. This SPF for the face was formulated to provide broad-spectrum protection, with a lightweight moisturizing texture that does not leave the skin with any such feeling as heavy, oily, or greasy. In addition, the SPF contains various skincare ingredients that work to provide the skin with care throughout the day, making it more than just an SPF.

It sounds great, but the question is, why is it important for me to use it?

If you still do not have any good reason why you need an SPF for your face, then permit me to tell you why it’s important to use one daily. The sun’s UV rays, not only provide us with wonderful vitamin D, but they also provide us with lovely skin damage, which helps speed up the aging process.

Yup, that’s right!

More than 90% of the skin’s aging process is caused by the sun, which happens all through the year.

So what does this all mean in essence?

In a general nutshell, if you have been looking for, and are still looking for a way to look younger for longer, then the answer here is SPF. You need to wear SPF on your face every single day as you go outside! In addition, the SPF you use should be 40 or higher for the best protection. It will keep your skin from being damaged and from aging quickly.

Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence Package

General Packaging

About the product’s packaging itself, I am quite pleased with the size of the bottle! The product comes in a very “generous” amount, 2.7 fluid ounces, which is quite an ideal size for facial sunscreen. On top of that, the overall design looks very clean and has a smart dispenser tip, which allows one to freely control the dispensing of the product in a mess-free way.

The product concept is quite similar to that of the “Freshly Juiced Line” from Klairs, which is a line that focuses more on skin brightening, hydrating, and anti-aging. As such, it was a wise idea for Klairs to come up with an SPF for this particular line, to protect any skin that is using brightening products.

Scent

The scent of this product comes naturally from the ingredients used in it, including a few essential oils, which make it less fragrant. (Very light scent)

About the Ingredients & Texture

Klairs has always had the attitude of using clean, safe, and gentle ingredients in its skincare products, which makes them very suitable for even sensitive skin. I am very particular about ingredients when it comes to skincare, and in my opinion, this water-based SPF for the face contains very gentle and mild but functional ingredients that will work well for your skin.

You see, most people, at a younger age, make the mistake of thinking that the sun isn’t damaging their skin. If you are in this category of people, you’ve got it all wrong. Because, after 10 to 15 years of sun exposure, you are going to see that damage on your face in a way you have never imagined before. So for that reason, it is very important to always wear sunscreen, regardless of your age.

This product is a physical sunscreen that will provide your skin with absolute protection from both UVA and UVB. This protection is provided by two main ingredients known as

  1. Uvinul A Plus, or Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate: This is an oil-soluble UVA ingredient that is used in many sunscreen products on the market.
  2. Ethylhexyl Triazone (Uvinul T150): This one is a stable, UVB filter and water-insoluble as well.

Also included in this Essence are other functional ingredients such as:

Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate: This is an ingredient that provides hydration, and silica helps to strengthen the cells between collagen and elastin fibers in the skin, also plumps the skin, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and prevents the appearance of new wrinkles.

Panthenol: This is a natural humectant that will effectively moisturize your skin, and renew Cellular.

Beta Glucan: This will stimulate collagen production and improves the wound healing process. It contains anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties that will soothe and calm your skin, and also moisturize it. It helps to lock in natural moisture to the skin. It also has antioxidant properties that serve as an anti-aging, and anti-wrinkle agent and also repair moisture barriers.

Allantoin: This is also an added ingredient that will also help in healing, soothing, and softening the skin, removing cracked and chapped skin, and making your skin look healthy.

Antioxidant Vitamin E: This helps to combat free radicals and helps minimize new damage.

Niacinamide: This is also an added antioxidant ingredient that serves as an anti-inflammatory. It helps to improve the skin’s elasticity, enhances the skin barrier, brightens skin tone, and also reduces post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence Texture

This Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence also has a couple of oils, such as Chamomile and Orange Oils: If you are sensitive to oils, no problem. Because Chamomile oil has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antibiotic properties. That is why it is used in many skincare products out there.

CitrusAurantium Dulcis: This one is an anti-bacterial oil and also an astringent.

The ingredients are all EWG Level 1 Green rated and vegan as well.

How Does It Feel?

Now, concerning the texture! As I earlier mentioned, this product’s texture is water-based but has some moisturizing ingredients within it, which makes it a hydrating and thin lotion texture. One thing that makes me love this product so much is that It leaves a light moisturizing and non-tacky layer over the skin and has a good amount of grip, which makes it a great makeup primer for those with dehydrated skin concerns. It absorbs nicely into the skin also, but not very quickly if you already have a cream or lotion on. Best of all, it does not leave a white cast after using it!

Overall Experience

When it comes to its performance on sensitive, dry acne prone skin, I was happy with the result I got when I used it with a day cream, it was too much for my skin. So Instead, I started using it as my day cream alone, after using a toner, essence, and serum. When used this way, it was just the right amount of moisture and hydration! The fragrance is not strong enough and did not cause any irritation or hives on my skin, nor clog my pores in any way…

Any breakouts or irritation?

I have been struggling with the issue of clogged pores for a couple of months, with frequent cases of irritation that I am yet to find the cause of. When I used this SPF, my clogged pores and irritation concern neither subsided nor became worse. This gives me the impression that the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence goes well for my skin.

No trace of any additional breakouts or irritation!

The Best Way to Use:

  • Use it as the last step of your nighttime routine and before makeup, that is after moisturizer but before you apply your primer or your foundation.
  • For that fact that chemical sunscreens don’t quickly absorb into the skin, so it is recommended to apply 15 or 20 minutes before stepping out of the house into the sun.
  • Now, if you have your makeup on, then I will advise you to wait at least 5minute before you go on with your base.

NB – It is recommended to use a liberal quantity and cover your face and neck. A piece of advice from a dermatologist says it is good to use ¼ teaspoon for effective protection. Even if you don’t take the time to measure the quantity you use every day, you should at least be able to judge the quantity based on how much quantity your skin can take without suffocating.

Pros

  • It is lightweight
  • It is a flight fragrance
  • It absorbs way quickly
  • It is great for colder/dry weather
  • It is hydrating
  • It has no SICKY or GREASY feelings
  • Feels comfortable under makeup

Cons

  • Does very well for oily skin, but will not do well for dry skin

Though the fit is lightweight, it still has a little bit of oil that makes oily skin get oily all day long. In this case, the Biore sunscreen, which is alcohol-based, will be a better choice for oily skin, so your skin won’t get oily. (But do a test before you conclude use)

Final Thought

Although it is a lightweight Essence, its lightness varies by skin type. This sunscreen can be compared to the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, but the difference is that the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence will work well in cold and dry weather by giving your skin an extra layer of hydration. Meanwhile, Biore sunscreen can easily dry someone’s skin out because it is alcohol-based.

So, for those of you looking for a water-based and hydrating formula, lightweight, chemical-based, that leaves a sheer semi-matte finish, then the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence will be a good one for you.

I prefer it more than the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream and the Klairs Mid-day Blue Sun Lotion!

I honestly recommend it!
