No doubt Klair calls it the magical cream for acne emergencies, this is because it is a moisturizing cream that can heal acne. This is the main reason for the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream review. In this review, you will also see that this cream is designed not as a deep moisturizing, hydrating, or anti-aging cream, but (like mentioned above) rather as a repairing recovery cream.
What’s the Difference From Other Acne Topicals?
Not only is it a recovery cream, but it also provides hydration and moisture to the skin, with the main focus on repairing damaged and irritated skin. These qualities make the cream ideal for people going through severe skin conditions like:
- acne, eczema,
- rosacea,
- hypersensitivity and more!
A Secret Acne Treatment
At times, many acne victims have the attitude of drifting towards harsh products in a bit of an effort to treat their acne concerns, but unfortunately for them, these harsh products end up drying them out, and in some cases, their skin concerns even end up getting worse. I have also had some bad experiences in the past with this method of acne treatment.
Only after I had acquired enough knowledge about both skincare and the skin itself, did I learn how extremely harmful and damaging these methods that many of us were using to take care of our acne were. And how they will only end up worsening our skin conditions and creating a larger breeding ground for our acne-causing bacteria.

Recovery Creams to Cure Acne
Now, after acquiring a good knowledge of how to care for the skin, I know about using skin-healing products for acne treatments. There are many acne recovery creams out there that will treat your acne very well and they are: Avene Riche Skin Recovery Cream and the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Cream, I can tell you this because I have used them to treat my acne sometime the past, and I have also introduced them to my friends who have also used them and have had an amazing result!
And this is because these creams can repair damaged skin, remove inflammation, and also help to relieve the skin of irritation. Which makes them ideal for acne sufferers!
But look at where they have issues, which is a common problem with most recovery creams out there, they can be very thick, and heavy and can leave a white cast after use.
And this brings me to Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream.
Product Claims:
The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream has the following claims:
- Relieves Skin Irritation
- Calms and Soothes Your Stressed Skin
- Recovery from Sun Burns
- Recovery from Skin Treatments (laser, dermabrasion, etc)
- Soothes Irritation From Shaving
- Soothes Irritation from Pore care (as a result of pimple popping)
I like to use the cream every night.
Sounds great! But how does it feel?

The Texture & Packaging
N B – The packaging was UPGRADED!
Nowadays, you will find the cream in a larger-sized plastic squeeze tube, it’s been upgraded, and this is the latest design. The old design had a smaller size, 30mls, but the new design is double the size, 60mls! Though the tube contains only a small quantity of the acne treatment cream. But the new design is very travel friendly and more convenient.
Concerning the texture, the Klairs Cream glides very smoothly on the skin, which makes it easy for one to pump out just the desired quantity of the product, and just a little will go a long way to help your skin. When you just applied the product, you get an immediate cooling effect on the skin, which feels like you just got misted with cool water.
After applying the product to my skin and massaging it well, I got this immediate hydration and moisture on my skin.
Like most recovery creams, this one could “clump” when makeup is applied overtop!
I will recommend a small quantity for anyone planning to use it during the day, but I must advise here that it is best for nighttime use by simply wearing your night cream.
The Results & Benefits
The cream has one major minus, which is the fact that, besides being good at hydration, it does moisturize deeply, but this factor makes it very ideal for all skin types. So, if you have been struggling to lay your hands on cream with a deep moisturizing effect, then this is not the one for you.
Maybe you should look elsewhere!!!
For someone with dry acne-prone skin, I recommend you use this cream after serum and before your usual day or night time cream. But for those with oily skin type, this will be kind of plenty enough for you.
After using it at night, it will calm your skin and leave no breakouts!
You can see the result after just 4 weeks of using the product, acne breakouts were taken care of, and dark scarring was prevented, which makes it ideal for people with PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) because this is a group of people who generally scar whenever they have pimple outbreaks.
How to Use:
At the finish stage of your evening care routine, apply a small amount on the desired areas of your skin in a thick layer.
If you have irritated and dry skin, then use the cream all over the skin/face, but if you are a combination skin type person, and have some patches on your skin, then you can use the cream targeting those affected areas. Apply a small quantity and smooth it into your skin while gently tapping for complete absorption.
NB – Using this cream on your skin, may not provide sufficient moisturization for dry skin types, so it is recommended to use the cream as a supplement following a moisturizing cream. (Need an additional lotion or cream on top of it)
CAUTION
Recommended to use partially on cases such as:
- Sunburn
- After shaving
- Problematic skin

About The Ingredient
When you look at the ingredient list of this cream, you will see one of the product’s key ingredients, called guaiazulene. This ingredient is a plant extract from chamomile oil. This oil is commonly seen in most Japanese skincare products out there, and it has a natural violet-blue color. Chamomile oil alone improves 89.7% of sunburn, 60.6% of eczema, and 86.5% of ulcerative skin diseases.
You will also see another ingredient called Centella Asiatica Extract, which is a native plant in Madagascar known as Tiger Grass. You will also notice that it is used in most cosmetic products out there, just like Centella Asiatica. Centella Asiatica helps in regenerating damaged skin (wound healing), as well as preventing scarring. This factor makes it very powerful for the treatment of acne.
Sodium Hyaluronate: This ingredient can hold 1000x its molecular weight in water, that is to say, it holds water in the skin, which makes it a perfect agent for hydration.
Argan oil and shea butter This provides deep moisture to the skin,
The product also contains peptides, which are amazing for intensive skin repair and dramatic anti-aging benefits.
- Butyrospermum Parkii Butter: Powerful moisturizer
- Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil: This ingredient is an antioxidant, hydrating, anti-flaking agent (dry patches)
- Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil: This also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.
- Portulaca Oleracea Extract: This Ingredient contains anti-inflammatory and anti-irritation properties also.
- Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract: This extract contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and also helps in wound healing.
- Ceramide NP: ‘‘This prevents the epidermis, or the top layer of our skin, from losing moisture. When we experience dry skin, it is because of a loss of ceramides in our skin, which causes itching, flaking, peeling, and scaling.’’
- Acetyl Hexapeptide-8: Works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles due to facial expression. However, it’s not an ingredient meant to be used on sensitive or sensitized skin (due to sun damage, for example), which makes it a weird addition to the midnight blue calming cream.
- SH-Oligopeptide-1 & 11: Epidermal Growth Factors, which are cellular signal molecules that stimulate cell growth, proliferation, healing, and/or differentiation.

Conclusion
For someone who suffers from any form of skin irritation, or acne-prone skin, this will be a good addition to their acne care routine. For that reason, I highly recommend it to you. I also find the cream very affordable, unlike other luxury brands like TATCHA’s Indigo Soothing Triple Recovery Cream, which was internationally recognized by the US National Eczema Association, for being an effective acne treatment product (but retails at a shocking $135).
